Why We Love Them: We use a double fold pure vanilla extract that is a game changer in our muesli. The taste and aroma is simply unmatched. Due to price volatility, many food companies are switching to using "natural" vanilla flavors, and we were pushed by our suppliers to do the same. However, because it is not a requirement to disclose all the ingredients in natural flavors, we refused to use it, instead sticking with a pure vanilla extract.
Sustainability Factors: Vanilla thrives organically, with little to no chemicals, pesticides or fertilizers needed. It is a sustainable and long-term crop, and once the plantations and processing infrastructure are in place, it has long lasting economic benefits to the community. Unfortunately, due to our rapidly changing climate, cyclones continue to increase in frequency and intensity around the world, decimating many sensitive vanilla plantations and forcing vanilla bean pricing sky high.
