Gluten Free Oats

Why We Love Them: Where do we even start? Oats are the foundation of most of our mueslis and clearly we have a slight love affair with them. Most people think of fiber and "heart healthy" which is true, but WE love oats because they are naturally gluten free, high in protein and loaded with important vitamins, minerals and antioxidant plant compounds. When left in their natural state (instead of baked and extruded like most cereals) they are a nutritional powerhouse and also have a soft, chewy texture and subtly sweet taste. Soak our muesli "overnight oats" style to truly unleash all the nutrition available in oats.

Sustainability Factors: Oats are a low input crop and when raised rotationally amongst corn and soy bean crops, oats can improve the health of soils, improve water quality and reduce chemical inputs. In addition, diversifying the crop rotation can lead to greater profitability for farmers. You can read more about small grains sustainability here.

The non-profit Environmental Working Group (EWG) recently found glyphosate residues in dozens of oat-based products. We have been working closely within our out supply chain for the last few years to address this issue and ensuring the use of glyphosate as a pre-harvest desiccant was prohibited. 

We test our products for glyphosate residues annually and in the latest results from December 2019, glyphosate was not detected. The lab detection limit was 5 parts per billion (ppb) which is even lower than the EWG study. Full laboratory results are below.
