Why We Love Them: We first started using Zante currants because they are smaller and do not have as strong of a "raisin" flavor as other varieties of raisins. They are naturally low in sodium and provide an ample supply of vitamins and minerals. They boast high levels of iron, potassium, calcium, and B-complex vitamins. They are also a plentiful source of dietary fiber and antioxidants.
Sustainability Factors: Zante currants are grown and sun dried in the warm dry climate of the San Joaquin Valley of California. We source our Zante currants from a 4th generation family business who maintains ecological balance on their farms, creating a sustainable farm environment that will last for generations to come. Unfortunately at our size we can't always order direct from the supplier and instead source from a 3rd party distributor. The more layers, the harder it is to get good information about the growing and processing, so we are continuing to source more directly as we grow.
