I have just returned from Midtown Farmer’s Market, the leaves have turned, and my car is full of apples. Football starts in 3 hours, and I’m craving something sweet. I’ve never made Apple Crisp, I’ve never baked anything in my life. It can’t be that hard…
I call Granny and ask her for her recipe. She says that she doesn’t have a recipe for how to make “Andy’s Lisp” (she’s hard of hearing). An hour later we finally get down to brass tax and grandma shares the recipe:
• 1.5 lbs apples
• ½ cup butter
• ¾ cup brown sugar
• 1 tsp. cinnamon
• ½ cup flour
• ¼ cup crushed walnuts
• pinch of nutmeg and love
• ¾ cup Seven Sundays Bircher Muesli (I substituted this for oats because I wanted a little more vitamins and minerals in my CRISP)
Put the sliced apples in a baking pan (casserole dish, hot dish, or whatever you call it).
Melt the butter and add the intangibles until crumbly.
Sprinkle over apples and bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
Finally, eat some extremely yummy in your tummy APPLE CRISP and feel like Betty Crocker, BAM!
