Smoothie Sunday

I’d say we really aren’t a smoothie family.  Brady and I went through a smoothie phase in New York that lasted the better part of a year, but nowadays, I prefer a sit down morning meal that requires chewing and passing and silverware.  But this morning, after 2 really solid staycation days as a fam, I felt the need to jumpstart our late morning with this super smoothie.

You don’t need to add yogurt or a banana if you don’t want to because the muesli soaks up the liquid nicely and makes the texture thick and creamy.  Any flavor of muesli would work, but I am happy I went with the Original Toasted.  The ground up almonds and Brazil nuts added some nuttiness, the spices (cinnamon and cardamom) were included, and I thoroughly enjoyed the occasional chewy chunk of currant or raisin.  Enjoy!

Recipe: Blueberry + Toasted Muesli Super Smoothie
Serves 2

1 cup Original Toasted muesli
1 cup almond milk
2 cups fresh blueberries
Juice from ½ lime
Drizzle of maple syrup

Blend all ingredients together in a food processor or blender.  Serve chilled.
